Common Redstarts in the Alps

I was on a #hiking trip in the #Alps the last week and again we were lucky and took several nice landscape pictures but also some pictures of nice plants, birds and other animals. Because I found several of the redstarts I will write this small article about this nice little #bird. I found these birds near a small creek and also at the house where we slept for the last few days, and they came pretty close, so I was able to do some nice closeup shots of them. I love the fluffy feathers on the front side of the bird this always looks so cute.

We also visited a lot of small creeks at the GroƟglockner and on one of them I found this couple of redstarts just sitting on a stone and watching us. They were not shy and it was nice taking some pictures of them without them flying away. I assume they were drying their feathers in the warm sun on the stone, because the rain shower hit this place an hour before and Stefan and I got a bit wet. Lucky we had the right clothing and it didn't bother us too much. I also took some nice shots of the creek and some longtime exposure shots of the waterfall nearby but these I will show you in a future article.

We also found a nest of the redstarts and the parents were feeding their offspring there. It was located at a small hut near a Moorland we visited there. It always sat down on the ceiling and waited for some seconds to fly to the nest and give the snack to the small #birds. I didn't take any pictures of the offspring because we didn't want to bother the birds too much. But because the parents always sat down on the ceiling of the hut before flying to the nest it was easy to get some nice shots.
