Potato salad - Qurator's: Hive Top Chef weekly competition


This week's Hive Top Chef dish : potatoes

I would like to present my version of very popular potato dish, which is POTATO SALAD.

This dish was originated in Germany, but become popular around the world.

Potato salad is very easy to prepare and it doesn't need much time.


  • new potatoes (800g)
  • cucumbers in brine (150g)
  • 5 small spring onions
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • salt and pepper


Cut the potatoes into small chunks and boil in salted water until just cooked, drain and cool.

Finely chop spring onions and cut cucumbers into small pieces.

Throw all the ingredients into a bowl, add mayonnaise and pepper and stir.

And your potato salad is ready.
You can eat it straight away, but I would recommend to place it in the fridge for 1h. Chilled taste even better.

That's my, very basic version. 0f course instead cucumber in brine, you can use any pickled cucumber. You can add hard boiled eggs or/and ham. You can spiced your potato salad with chilli flakes or pickled jalapeños. It all depends on your taste and imagination.
Potato salad can be eaten on its own, or as side dish with any hot or cold meat.
